Aeries
The mountaintop cities inhabited by the Zaedyn are commonly referred to as aeries. The term originates from the term used specifically for the high-seated nests of eagles and other raptors.
Zaedyn aeries are usually constructed far above the treeline on mountain peaks, and are carefully constructed over generations by eroding the stone with Air Elementalism. Some aeries may surround the exterior of a mountain, while others tunnel inside the peak.
Typically, the only way to reach an aerie is to fly there, but Zaedyn who are close with their Brech'mar cousins often have internal passages that connect the subterranean Brechian cities with their aeries through the inside of the mountain. These passages are a collaborative work between the Zaedyn and Brech'mar, often with the Zaedyn tunneling down into the mountain and the Brech'mar tunneling up, until both construction teams meet. These meeting places are then elaborately crafted by both as a way-point for travelers.
