Uncia is a tribe of Ochae'nafod bonded to the snow leopard of the Lianqai Mountains of northwest North Thiskel. They are a small tribe with a handful of clans scattered throughout the mountains that maintain a low population in each.

Appearance

The Uncia are of an average size comparable to humans. Males stand around 5'9" (175cm) and females at 5'4" (163cm). They tend to have a lithe build, sometimes carrying a little fat to sustain them in their cold environment. They resemble the local human population in facial structure, with monolid eyes and similar facial structure, but with subtle feline traits resembling the snow leopard. Uncias tend to have small oval faces with narrow chins and a short brow, but high cheekbones and somewhat large eyes. Their ears are shorter than most full-blooded Nafod--much like the snow leopard's smaller ears, this is an adaptation to protect them from the cold.

Their skin color is similar to the humans of the region; fair, but quite easy to tan. In the high altitudes, they tend to develop a deep tan. Their hair color is frequently platinum blonde, but comes in a darker taupe near the roots and easily becomes pale with photobleaching. Their brows and lashes tend to be black, however, mimicking the natural sort of "eyeliner" markings that most cats have. Their eyes are the same color as their feline form, often being a light golden-green or grey, and the pupils are distinctly cat-like.

Culture

As they are bound to a predator species, the Uncia tend to present a display of confidence and aloofness when encountering humans, but this covers a natural wariness. While snow leopards are largely solitary creatures, the Uncia still live in communities--but these communities are typically small. They also prefer to be self-sufficient rather than partnering with any potential neighboring Nafod, Zaedyn, Brech'mar, or humans.

Small clans typically make their homes in existing caves, which they modify to suit their comfort and partition for individual privacy while sharing meals and activities in a common area. Like snow leopards, they are not inclined to committed relationships, but more like short flings sought out with partners of other clans. Children are typically raised in their mother's clan with little to no contact with their father.
