Wind Scouts

Wind Scout is a commonly used translation for the ranged combat and scout class of the Zaedyn militia. There are a handful of career options available in traditional Zaedyn society; warriors, scouts, architects, priests, and various artisan and domestic roles. Each group maintains sets of skills that employ Air Elementalism. Wind Scouts specifically use their elementalism to enhance martial and stealth skills.

Zaedyn society as a whole has not seen true conflict since the War of the Gods, but traditional aeries maintain a force of Sky Knights and Wind Scouts in case they are ever called upon again, or if they must defend themselves. Both branches of the Zaedyn militia maintain their knowledge of combat techniques over the generations for this reason.

Wind Scouts tend to be a little more useful in the defense of their aeries in the current era, as opposed to the Sky Knights. They patrol their region for potential threats, are often a diplomatic presence for their aerie in interactions with neighbors, and hunt and gather for food and resources that can't be grown or maintained in the high altitude of their aeries. Outside of these duties, Wind Scouts may participate in more domestic tasks and crafts to support their family and community.

Wind Scouts train in minimal leather armor and primarily use small bows and thin-bladed knives as weapons. Zaedyn bows are not especially powerful or hard to draw. Many other races would find them weak on range--but with their elementalism to support their projectiles, they do not need to rely on the power of the physical tension.

Their talents in air elementalism focus on improving accuracy, momentum, and range of their ranged weapon, and their adroitness and speed on the wing and on the ground. They also have techniques to obscure the sound of their movements by manipulating the air around them to redirect sound.
