Sky Knights

Sky Knights is a commonly used translation for the warrior class of Zaedyn. There are a handful of career options available in traditional Zaedyn society; warriors, scouts, architects, priests, and various artisan and domestic roles. Each group maintains sets of skills that employ Air Elementalism. Sky Knights specifically use their elementalism to enhance their martial abilities and maintain flight, especially when wearing heavier armor and carrying weapons--though Zaedyn still rely on remarkably light armor of leather or lightweight metals compared to other races.

Sky Knights rarely see true combat in the current era. They commonly serve as guardians for their aeries. Their marital talents are maintained across generations in case they are ever called upon again, as they were in the War of the Gods.

Alongside honing their martial skills, Sky Knights often patrol outside their aeries to make certain there are no threats from kuzo, humans, or other aggressors. They may also hunt alongside Wind Scouts or serve in a diplomatic capacity when meeting with other races. Their daily life tends to consist of training routines, sometimes patrols or hunts, and then their domestic life which may include crafts of their liking that support their community and caring for their family.

Sky Knights train in heavy armor (for Zaedyn standards, at least) and both close and ranged combat skills. They often use thin-bladed swords for close combat in a style that is graceful and precise, in addition to the use of small shields constructed of wood or leather. They also learn to use bows and javelins for ranged weapons, as well as knives.

Air elementalism is employed to enhance their flight by manipulating air currents to support them when carrying their equipment, as well as improving their speed and agility in the air. Advanced Sky Knights control the wind around them with a deft subconscious awareness. Their martial arts teach them to use the air around them as an extension of their own body.

Their elementalism is also employed in extending the range of their sword slashes, increasing the force of pushes and strikes, and slowing their opponents. Controlling wind also allows them to land more precise hits with ranged weapons by guiding their projectiles to their target, increasing the momentum of the projectile, or changing and manipulating trajectory. One doesn't need to worry about the wind changing the course of their arrow or javelin when they control the wind. Wind Scouts, however, are the true masters of ranged weaponry among the Zaedyn.
