Ailurus
The Ailurus tribe of Ochae'nafod are bonded to the arboreal red panda found in Ourem's forests.
Appearance
The Ailurus are among the smallest Ochae'nafod tribes with an average height of 4'5" (135cm) for males and 4' (122cm) for females. They are slender and delicate people, easily mistaken for children, especially with their small, round faces with delicate features. Their skin color is the light tan, warm complexion common to humans of Ourem, along with their monolid eye shape and dark eyes. Their auburn or red hair and long, tapered ears mark them as irregular.
Culture
As they are bonded to a small animal, the Ailurus tend to be shy and cautious upon first meeting, but their culture tends to be affectionate and playful to the initiated. Ailurus clans build small arboreal communities in the trees of their forest. These structures are often made of bamboo and they make great effort to conceal their homes from view from below. Red pandas are best known for their diet of bamboo, but they are actually omnivorous, and so are the Ailurus. Their diet is primarily vegetarian with occasional meat from small animals added in.
The Ailurus prefer short-term relationships and live in matriarchal clans. Children born into the clan are often fathered by men of other clans and raised by their mother and her family with little to know involvement from the father.
