Selyn L'Aril
Selyn L'Aril is a Fayl'Idayn of the Ardir, the mother of Natasi and Siph L'Selyn.
Appearance
Selyn has the delicate beauty typical of the Fayl'Idayn, with long, tapered ears; large green eyes; and auburn hair. She is around 5'5" (165cm) in height.
Background
Selyn is the daughter of Aril L'Tana and Teris L'Helan and grew up in the village of Awdenlor in the northeastern Ardir. At the age of 125, she took part in the Journey of Cooperation and ventured out into Kalesten. Several months into her journey, she ended up in Chegar where she met Rayden, a human adventurer, who became her traveling companion. They fell in love over the course of their shared journey and after two years, Selyn became pregnant with Natasi.
Young and in love, Selyn and Rayden married, then settled in his home village of Chavese, Chawoven. For awhile, Selyn was happy, devoting herself to raising her daughter and involving herself in her husband's culture. Eventually, she began longing for her homeland but Rayden was reluctant to make the journey to the Ardir and Selyn was uncertain how her family would feel about her human husband and half-elf child. She pushed down her longing and pressed forward. When Natasi was ten, Selyn became pregnant again, this time with her son, Siph.
Her homesickness grew stronger, despite having a new child to distract herself. She and Rayden argued frequently about going to the Ardir, with Rayden perpetually reluctant. He finally agreed to plan a journey, but Selyn was so bitter with the frequent fights that she left early. Natasi, at fifteen, resisted leaving home with her mother, so Selyn left with Siph and returned to the Ardir where she has remained, raising her son alone.
