Carnivore Tribes

Ochae'nafod bonded to the tribes of the Carnivora order of mammals. Many familiar species are found in this order, including felines, canids, bears, and smaller carnivorans like weasels, otters, raccoons, skunks, and badgers. Ochae'nafod are bonded to species of at least 10lbs and carnivores can range from small weasels to massive bears.

The Carnivora order is broken into two subclades--Feliforms, which include cats and cat-like species; and Caniforms, which include canines, mustelids, bears, and others.

Feliform Tribes

  • Felidae (Cats)

Viverrids

Somewhere between cats and mustelids are the viverrids, which include civets, gennets, and bearcats. The superfamily of Herpestoidea includes mongooses, which are all too small for Ochae'nafod to bond, and the Hyena family.

Tribe Name Species Region Size Notes
Civetta (African) Civet South Thiskel; Woodland Extra small
Binturong (Genus Arctictis) Binturong or Bearcat SW. North Thiskel; forests Extra small Largely arboreal

Hyaenids

While Hyenas appear more dog-like, they are actually a part of the feline family tree, but closer in relation to mongooses.

Tribe Species Region Size Notes
Hyaena (Genus Crocuta) Spotted Hyena South Thiskel; savannah Average Golden, tawny, or light brown hair color common
(Genus Hyaena) Brown Hyena South Thiskel; semi-desert and savannah Small Brown hair
(Genus Hyaena) Striped Hyena South Thiskel; desert and savannah Small Golden or tawny hair, black beards on men
(Genus Proteles) Aardwolf SE., E, South Thiskel; desert edges, savannah Extra small Golden or tawny hair, far smaller and more passive than other tribes

Caniform Tribes

The caniform tree includes dogs, wolves, foxes, bears, mustelids, raccoons and other species. Seals are also in this suborder, but the Ochae'nafod do not typically bond marine species.

Canid Tribes

The order of Canidae includes wolves, dogs, and foxes. Ochae'nafod are bonded to most of the larger species and some small species over 10lbs (5kg). The most familiar tribes are the Lupus and Vulpes, representing wolves and true foxes. Domestic dogs are descended from wolves, but the Ochae'nafod do not bond to domesticated animals.

Canis

The Canis genus includes several species of wolf, coyote, and jackal. The tribe for the common gray wolf takes the name Lupus from Canis lupus and tribes bonded to other Canis species use the specific name (second part) of species name.

  • Lupus Tribe - Gray wolf
  • Lycaon Tribe - (African) wild dog
Tribe Name Species Region Size Range Notes
Simensis (from Canis simensis) (Ethiopian) Wolf NW, N, South Thiskel Small
Lupaster (from Canis lupaster) (African) Golden Wolf NW, N, South Thiskel Small This species is hybridized between the two other wolf species.
Latrans (from Canis latrans) Coyote North & Central Kalesten Small
Lupulella (separate genus) Black-Backed & Side-Striped Jackal W, S, South Thiskel Small

Cerdocyonina

This group of canids is found in South Kalesten with several small fox-like species that are bonded, and one large species--the maned wolf.

Vulpes

The most well-known fox tribe is the Vulpes, bonded to the red fox that is found in both Thiskel and Kalesten. There are other species in the Vulpes genus that are considered "true foxes" and bonded to Ochae'nafod tribes, but there are others that are too small for the Ochae'nafod.

Ursine Tribes

The bear tribes of Aserra include black and brown bears under the Ursus genus, the giant panda in western North Kalesten, and the spectacled bear found in South Kalesten. The polar bear is present in Aserra, but no Ochae'nafod inhabit that extreme environment. The sun bear is also not present for Ochae'nafod bonding as it would have been placed on Ageond.

Tribe Name Species Region Size Range Notes
Ursus Brown Bear E. North Thiskel (Eldir, Itray Forests, Ispa's Sepulcher), N. North Kalesten (Lands of Kaius, Gayntos Mountains) Extra large
